Sometimes when you are too desperate for online success you can be taken advantage off by some affiliate companies. Back then in 2006 I joined an affiliate programme that paid me exactly $ 0.01 dollar for opening their mail and viewing their adverts. At first I thought it would work because I often check my mail box, sometimes more that twice a day, and I don’t mind opening the mail and following links. After doing this for several weeks, I had not even made a dollar in my account because to achieve that I had to have at least opened 100 email and followed the links. Imagine having to get paid at a threshold of $ 500. How much time (years maybe) would one have accumulated as much $ 0.01 from following links from emails to build up to that amount when there is so many other things to do online than reading emails?

When it eventually dawned on me, I realized that this affiliate marketing is not a benefit but an exploitation. Surely I wont mansion their names in this article, but will caution you to be cautious of such affiliate companies.

The Bright Side of Affiliate Marketing

Don’t despair, affiliate marketing works. I have been a player for more than 4 years now. At some point I though google adsense was the best (yes, it could probably be the largest), but later learnt that there are others that do better than google adsense. I have outlined my experience with some African affiliate companies that are working for me (meaning that they pay much better than google adsense and work from anywhere in the world) and responsive to average traffic volumes. You may want to limit affiliate companies that you work with so that you can easily monitor the ads.

For whatever business that you do, you must know its life blood, affiliate marketing is no different. If you want to see your affiliate business grow, you must keep doing that which keeps it alive.  For example, if you are a medical practitioner, you must keep reading recent publications in your specialization so that you keep up with recent therapy methods.

Mind who you do business with, some may take advantage of you because you have limited yourself to them. Look around, the internet is full of fruitful affiliate companies.
